I live in a great neighborhood. We have families of all kinds.........families with children, older retired couples, DINKS (double income no kids)........but they are all friendly and nice. The kind of people who will pick up your newspaper and put it on your porch when you are out of town or mow your lawn when you are on vacation or bring you food when you have a baby.
In this day and age - we are all so busy. It's easy to hibernate and come home from work and just stay in your house and be your own little island. But I love the feeling of community. I love the summer when the kids all play out in the street and the parents sit in lawn chairs in the driveways and watch the kids play and visit. I love neighborhood cook outs and Halloween parties.
What is your favorite thing about your neighborhood? I'd love to hear about it.
So would Dreyer’s (for those on you on the west coast and in Texas) and Edy’s for those of you East of the Rockies! The tweet is there :)
We have a cool neighborhood with lots of different ages. My favorite part is that when my husband is gone, all the guys offer to mow my lawn!!!!
I like that we have stores and restaurants within walking distance and it's a very pet friendly area.
My neighborhood has sidewalks, parks, and walking trails through it and I LOVE that everyone you pass when you are out on them says hello! All the neighbors on my street wave at you when you are pulling in our out of the street or your house too, which just makes me feel like we are back in the neighborhood of my childhood!
The things I like about my neighborhood: all of the little kids, a beautiful bike trail and just the overall generosity of the neighbors nearby!! :)
Things I like about my neighborhood: friendly neighbors, everyone comes out of hiding in the summer, and there are tons of children!
i LOVE this neighborhood for many reasons, but at the top of my list is that we are the third generation of my husband's family living in it. what a neat blessing for adelaide to grow up a block from her grandparents and great-grandparents and on the same street as her cousins!
ps- my grandparents have a house in new mexico and a bear came into their garage, opened the freezer and was caught eating dreyer's ice cream out of the carton with his paw three summers ago. my granddad wrote the company to share the story and they loved it so much they sent them ice cream and supplies for a neighborhood block party there too!
Mmmmmm Ice Cream! How could I not enter this one? We love our neighborhood even though we have only been here 6 months. Its nice and quiet!
I love my neighborhood because it is a military neighborhood and we aren't military. Every 2-3 years, our neighbors all cycle through, and we have met so many wonderful friends this way. I love the diversity that my son is growing up with, and the fact that we are able to minister to so many different people - it's almost like being missionaries with the world coming to us instead of the other way around!
I also love that we are a culdesac neighborhood, so there is very little traffic, and a whole lot of children running amok!
We love our neighborhood. We have great friends from the neighborhood playgroup. More than half of us are pregnant this summer so ice cream in the Texas heat for pregnant women would be great to starve off the cankles!!
My favorite thing about our neighborhood is that it has it's own park! It is pretty quite (most of the time!) and very kid friendly.
What a wonderful idea, an ice cream block pary. I would love to win
we have such friendly neighbors. our next door neighbors would host a crawfish boil every summer and we had so much fun getting together, playing with the little ones and catching up. sadly, burt passed away and we haven't had a get together in a couple of years. i would love to be able to get everyone back together again!
I love my neighborhood because we have the best neighbors. I know a lot of people say that but we really do have THE BEST neighbors. Everyone comes outside in the afternoons to sit and chat while the kids running around playing. My next door neighbors have three boys and my son refers to them as "his boys." We cookout out on Sat. nights and go to church together on Sun. mornings. Anytime we need anything from a babysitter to an egg our neighbors are there for us. We joke and say if we move we have to move into a neighborhood with enough houses for all of us!
We're moving to a new neighborhood in South Carolina (we currently live in Houston, TX) in a few weeks. Apparently, we'll have twins next door, more children down the street and lots of families with older children. I can think of nothing better than hosting an ice cream party to get to know everyone!!!
When we first moved into our neighborhood, our orchardist neighbor brought us over a box of apricots. They were the size of peaches, I had never seen any so huge. Our neighborhood is very quiet and protective - I love it that way. The elder generation get so excited to see the kids out on their bikes, in the strollers on walks, or swinging the bat in the front yard. We have a great group of people here.
I like that all the houses are unique in my neighborhood. Everyone is friendly and we have all different types of families that live on our street.
(and we REALLY like ice cream :) )
One great thing is that we have sidewalks..I grew up in a small town in AR and we didn't have them in my neighborhood. It is also special because many original owners still live in the neighborhood, but there are lots of younger families moving in too! (Our neighborhood is about 35 years old.)
Here's a link to my blog post...am new at this, so hope it is done correctly!
http://cupcakedaze.blogspot.com/2009/05/ice-cream-ice-cream-we-all-scream-for.html
Well we actually moved here about 11 months ago, so I don't know my neighbors all too well. I know them enough to make friendly small talk with them, but I'd love to get to know them a bit better. Everyone does seem nice around here. And I'm sure they like ice cream too. :)
I love Edy's ice cream. :)

WE have an odd lot in the neighborhood, but some are going to college in the fall, and some are going overseas and it would be a nice gettogether for the neighborhood
Great friends, quiet streets and family oriented, love my neighborhood!
We have fantastic neighbors, everyone looks out for each other and our homes. When we're on vacation, my neighbor took in our mail and watered our plants. When we had a brown-out in the neighborhood last summer, some of the neighbors that still had electricity hooked other houses up to their power with extension cords so our groceries wouldn't go bad. We were without power for 3 days and I would have lost all my food without my neighbor.

Our neighborhood has good earnest people who watch out for each other.
I love my neighborhood because of all the friendly people and all the little kids that play outside. My neighbors also look out for each other. Thanks.

fave memory is making ice cream from scratch with my mom and sisters. We would take turns cranking that never ending handle but the reward was always worth it.
tvollowitz at aol dot com
My favorite thing is that we all look out for each other, it's a very comfortable relaxed neighborhood
We live in a rural community. But each summer one of the neighbors (a different person each year) will open up their yard and host a community barbecue. It's one of the few times we all get together. Maybe we should host this year.
rsgrandinetti@yahoo.com
I like mint chocolate chip
My neighborhood is okay, but sometimes it can be noisy because the neighborhood kids like to play infront of my home for some strange reason.
elkaye[at]gmail[dot]com
mmm...ice-cream can make any neighborhood good! -=)
autumn398 (at) yahoo.com
I live in the country so do not have a neighborhood in the sense of multiple houses on a block. However, in times of need or even just meeting people in town, the neighborhood sense is still there.
I love my neighborhood because people respect privacy, but in an emergency they are right there to help. It's the best!
I love my neighborhood because we all know each other and can count on one anoher for help.
My neighborhood is nice and quiet.
We live in a super neighborhood. People are nice and most of all we are close to all of the major stores
Ice cream is a "staple" in our house.
I live on a cul-de-sac in front of a huge park and there's always families celebrating birthdays and other things on the weekends. It's a happy, celebratory place, and I'm always happy to supply the ice cream :)
ladyspy79(at)aol(dot)com
We love our neighborhood. We looked for a new home for a while and when I saw this home and the neighborhood, I just knew it was the one (there are only approx. 30 homes in our neighborhood). My daughter now has a safe place to ride her back and my small son a safe place to play. We love our neighbors and during football season we often go to each others homes for football parties and eat of course. Everyone here is proud of their homes and do their best to keep their homes and yards looking so great. We love it here.

My neighborhood is mostly made up of young families which is great because we fit right in. My daughter has plenty of friends and the people have been very open and welcoming.
My neighborhood is small enough where everyone knows each other and does things for each other when they need it.
Thanks!

I love ice cream
We live in a mobile home park. It is very quiet and the neighbors keep to themselves but are still very friendly. They respect your privacy. Thanks.
magic5905@embarqmail.com
I live in a suburban area. Our neighborhood is great in that everyone knows everyone else. they notice when something is going on around the neighborhood. For example, when a nice retired couple went to visit their children this past winter, three different calls went in to the police station when people noiticed their were lights on in their house. the cops caught the robbers in the house, and saved this nice couple from losing everything. Thank you for having this giveaway.

My favorite thing about our neighborhood is how everyone gets together on the evening of July 4th to celebrate and enjoy the fireworks.
I've always thought Ice Cream Socials were a great way to kick off the summer and bring neighbors together for a fun time. What a wonderful idea. Thanks for sharing this with us.

My neighborhood is quiet and people mostly keep to themselves. There are many that I have known for years. Quite a few new homes have been built.
janetfaye (at) gmail (dot) com
My neighborhood isn't overly friendly, but really pull together when you need something. Our neighbor really watches out for us, and when we got a new car, he asked us less than an hour later if we were selling our old one. Quick and easy sale!
my neighborhood is a senior citizen complex--but we all like ice cream
Our nieghborhood is the queitest.
My family have lived in our nieghborhood for 16 years. I love that we can count on each other in any situation
I love my neighborhood because it is quiet, and so close to my work. I commuted 30+ miles each way for over 20 years. I now live less than 5 miles (12 minutes) from work!
I love my neighborhood because I have met one of my new best friends just down the street. Our sons are 6 months apart, and we both love that we have lots of young families around.
Our neighborhood has lots of kids and they all play outside. The teenage boys down the street have a garage band. The music teacher at our school is always out walking his dogs. It feels like a real neighborhood.
I twittered this giveaway: http://twitter.com/qwills2cats/status/1930529948
We are new to our neighborhood, and it looks like it is going to be entirely different from our last one. At our old house we were the only ones on our street who were under the age of 60, and it was wonderful. My three kids had about 30 grandmas and grandpas watching out for them and cooing over them. Our new neighborhood seems to be all working couples with no kids. But it is too early to tell.

Thanks for the giveaway
We have a great neighborhood. Block parties every summer, lots of kids on the block for our kids to play with, a fantastic park at the end of the street, the sound of a river nearby. Love it here! We're looking forward to our block party in August already.
s.mickelson at gmail dot com
We are moving into a wonderful neighborhood where all the people are friendly and helpful. We already love everyone there.
We have a wonderful small country community, where we live in one of the only apartment complexes. It is beautiful here, and the people are all sweet. but what is missing is the unity! No one really talks to one another, just nods and shuffles on their way. My husband and I have been trying to come up with a way to get us all together and talking and having fun, and this souds like a great way!

I love that I can walk to the corner store for a cup of coffee or to the tiny post office and be guaranteed to run into a few neighbors.
I've lived in my Neighborhood for the last 25 years, grew up here, bought the house from my parents and now my children are sleeping in the same bedroom I did as a child! A lot of my friends still live in the neighborhood as well, were always running into each other at the gas station and market. We live in a huge town, but being in the same neighborhood for so long its like we live in a town of 200! It's actually kind of nice!
leahtardo[at]gmail[dot]com
I live in a great neighborhood in a suburb of Dallas. We have lived here for 10 years and have so much fun as neighbors. We always play tricks on one another.
When we first moved here we went out of town and left our key with a neighbor(see who does that anymore) and they short sheted our bed, put plactic wrap on our toliet and put a rubber band on the spray nozzle of our sink! Then they waited for us to get home so they could laugh.....Priceless....
I can even imagine moving because my neighbors are so GREAT!!!!!!
We live in a small community which is good because everyone knows everyone.
they stay at home mverno@roadrunner.com
I live in the middle of nowhere !
I love my neighborhood because it is really safe and our backyard joins with our neighbors - no fences!
Thank you for the giveaway :)
hurdler4eva(at)gmail(dot)com
I live in a great neighborhood. We all know once and other. One of my neighbors husband passed away and everyone helped by watching her children and bringing meals to her.
After my divorce, I moved to an apartment complex. I really had very low hopes. I have since fallen in love with this place. My kids are exposed to many, diverse families. I think its beautiful to see so many people out socializing and the kids playing together - all races, backgrounds. Its become a very cozy, beautiful patchwork quilt.
My neighborhood has 5 houses and two of them are for sale. Its not me (I promise). Everyone lives on at least 3 acres so its very quiet but we do get together a few times year.
I love our neighborhood because it is more like a extended family. We have a lot of military families here and when a parent has to go overseas everyone comes together to make the family feel loved and less alone. We call our neighborhood the Rainbow street as we all come in so many shapes, colors, ages and beliefs. But we all have the most important thing in common. we all care about each other.
I would love the chance to win, thanks.
erma.hurtt@sbcglobal.net
I live in a pretty small town and I love how quiet it is. I mean, we only have one stop light (which we just got recently), so there isn't a whole lot of traffic to worry about. It is just nice to live in a place where everyone seems to know one another.
wordsmoveme at gmail dot com
are town only has 2 stop lights an every one basicly knows every one
We just moved into our neighborhood so we haven't met very many people yet - it's a dead end street and there are lots of kids my boys love to play with already!
We have a beautiful park at the entrance to our neighborhood. It is very shady with a pool and playground, a perfect place to bring the whole family!

We live in the old part of town where all the houses were built in the early 1900's. I love the fact that our neighborhood is unique and has character! You walk down the street with your dog and your son and say hi to the people you pass. You go visit neighbors and sit on porches in rocking chairs and swings catching up on life. I love that our neighbors look out for each other and their homes. It's a great day in the neighborhood!
Our neighborhood is very rural--so I have more animal neighbors (deer especially) than human ones.
We live in a beautiful neighborhood with lots to do but with the hussle and bussel of work and school we don't visit our neighbors as much as I would like (unless it's a hurricane like IKE).
I live in a neighborhood that is going through regentrification. It's so great to find all of these young couples buying starter homes in the same neighborhood as there are all these wonderful older souls who've lived here their whole lives!
I love edy's ice cream. I've actually won their neighborhood ice cream party before.

My neighborhood is small but nice. Everyone knows everyone. We live on a farm in the country. It is quiet and serene. Everyone is different. We have seniors, families of young children, families with collegeage children, et cetera.
mercsmercado at yahoo dot com
I live in a rural area so not many neighbors, but I would share with friends and family :)
swearingins@ar-digit.net
My neighborhood is so great because it was built in the 50s so there are people who have lived there for 50 years and brand new folks like me who are newcomers to home ownership. We have developed trees, wide streets for bicycles, and everyone takes care of their homes. It doesn't hurt that there's a great city park at the end of the neighborhood!
We didn't know how many kids lived in our neighborhood until our son was 1 1/2 and insisted on spending a lot of time outside.
The parents and their kids are great and we spend most nice-weather evenings talking and watching the kids play.
I scream for ice cream....oh boy! Count me in :)
Ice cream, did someone say ice cream?
I love ice cream, winning this would make my day... no make that month!
ryan.w.england@gmail.com
My neighborhood is filled with awesome people. Three of these families has a child in a wheel chair. My daughter being the oldest, she will be 5 June 9. She has CP, Epilepsy, Plagiocephaly, Bronchial Pulmonary Dysplasia, cannot walk cannot talk and is totally wheel chair dependant but is the happiest little red head in the world. Ice Cream would make us even more happier.
Christina ( a preemie mom )
My neighborhood has a view of the ocean and lots of wildlife (deer, quail, coyote). My neighbors are so unique and gifted- one rescues turtles and has over 100 (3 named after my children which they think is so cool), a couple are professional landscapers and have beautiful gardens, & one lady is a professional bodybuilder and her AF husband is currently studying Dari. They've all been a pleasure to get to know and have made our military assignment here memorable. I'd love to win some ice cream and have them all over at once- we'll do that even if we don't win!
I love EVERYTHING about my neighborhood. It's in a big city, but it's quiet, so friendly, and really safe. The houses are old and quaint and there's a pharmacy, library, grocery store, video store, restaurants, bike store and movie theater all within a few blocks. We raised money to put a neighborhood mural "through the years" on the side of the bike store. It looks awesome. And we have a festival in the park every year. We feel like we live in a really great small town in the middle of a big bustling city!
Our neighborhood is great because when someone's dog gets out of their yard (i.e. our dog) and goes and gets the neighbors dog pregnant (i.e. our neighbor's dog) they just laugh about it!!!
We live on an isolated military installation and have an incredible, close-knit neighborhood. We set each other's garbage out on Thursday mornings, all attend the same 2 or 3 church services, make meals when someone is moving or sick, and all shop at the same commissary. It is great to have such a community around us ... and we could certainly put away some serious ice cream in this desert heat! :)
WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD!
THEY ARE NICE FAMILIES AND OLDERS WHO DONT HAVE CHILDREN OR AS YOU SAID KELLY, "DINKS".
IF WE NEED SOMETHING THAT WE DONT WANT TO RUN TO THE STORE FOR ONE THING WE CAN JUST RUN OVER THEIR AND ASK.
AND THATS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD PLUS WE LOVE ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We live in the country, so it is nice and quiet. We love to have lots of company in the summer, usually having 3 or 4 parties inviting all our family and friends, so an ice cream party would be great!
I am single and bought my first house about 8 months ago. I could tell the neighbors were leary at first about who this girl moving in was! Was she going to have parties all the time? It's very much a family neighborhood with lot of kids, and they have made me feel very welcomed. Whenever I have needed something they have been there. I have come home many times to my lawn being cut by one of my neighbors! That is great and not something I expect! I couldn't have picked a better neighborhood to buy my first house in and am VERY thankful that my neighbors watch out for me.
My neighborhood has changed from old people with no kids to gay men with lots of (adopted) kids since I've lived there. I love the diversity, and it's been great watching it change.
fishercl@email.unc.edu
Our neighborhood could use a block party! We all keep to ourselves. Our next door neighbor just passed away a few weeks ago. She was the only one we knew.
At least we have a great neighborhood for walking!
Oh, my email is abelle82@hotmail.com....sorry
I LOVE ice cream!!!! Sharing it would be even better too!
:)
We love our neighborhood. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains but the best part are our neighbors! Our children are all about the same age so a playdate is just right next door. The kids play often in the evenings and there is nothing like sitting on the front porch rockers with a glass sweet tea watching the kids giggle and play.
Our neighborhood is a lot like yours, all kinds of families. After Hurricane Ike came through and did a lot of damage, men and women from all over the neighborhood came and just started helping us, we had only been here a month so we were rookies when it came to hurricanes and being prepared. Just the friendliest people and willing to help out. Help with clean up and help with activities for the kids when the power was out! We are blessed!!
I live in the good 'ol country here in AR, and LOVE my neighborhood! No, there is not people on each side of me, but the house across the field is my parents! And the 2 houses up from theirs? My sisters! We all were fortunate enough to be able to live on my Grandfathers land, that he farmed on his entire life! WHile I hate it that my children won't have neighborhood buddies to ride bikes with, they are right down the driveway from Nanny & PawPaw!!
hollyberry81@hotmail.com
One of my neighbors, an elderly lady, picked up my mail and packages when I went out of town She was afraid they would get stolen so sweet lezanac@yahoo.com
My husband and I do not live in the same town where we grew up, and we didn't really feel like we had roots here for the first few years. After Hurricane Katrina wrecked our neighborhood, it was so neat to see the way our neighborhood came together to help each other out. We swapped skills from finding people to help work to laying new flooring to tiling fireplaces to finishing touches, and it was amazing. I said many times during those months that it was sad it took a disaster to bring us all together. cbdavis1@cableone.net
I love our neighborhood. We watch out for each other and everyone is friendly and gets along with each other!
We live in a golf course community of condos with lots of retired folks, they all have dogs and take out their golf carts in the early morning around the course to give their dogs a run. We are pretty much the only family with kids, but everyone is so sweet to us!
My neighborhood is awesome because when I had to have surgery recently, not only did everyone rally around to help drive my kids, but they cooked meals for us! It was so wonderful to have home cooked meals made with love delivered every day. It taught me to be a good neighbor in return. I love my neighbors.
My neighborhood is very safe with a police station down the block.
My neighborhood is really diverse in so many ways, but one thing that brings a lot of us together is that the majority of us have dogs. It's kind of funny because sometimes we don't remember each other's names, but everyone knows the dog's names. Thanks!

I like that my neighborhood is quiet intime(at)myself.com
Since we moved in, our neighborhood has gone through a complete transition. It went from people with little kids who've now grown up and moved out, back to people with little kids. It's fun to see new life in our neighborhood again and there are so many new people here that it's time to start the neighborhood block party back up again.

I LOVE THIS ICE CREEM...HOPE I WIN !
Thanks so much - we love ice cream around here - love twirling it around in the bowl so it's like soft serve!
We love our neighborhood because everyone feels safe here and the kids play outside all the time and we like our neighbors a lot!

Yummy I need ice cream..we are getting ready to move at the end of the summer..
We have a great neighborhood--lots of kids around the same ages who all love each other! It is truly what I hoped for in a neighborhood--and wasn't sure I would find since we moved into a developing neighborhood. Everything has turned out GREAT!
We are big time ice cream fans in our house. I've also entered their neighborhood party contest for the last two years without success. :( I wonder if third time is the charm?
We live in a cond complex and we like to get together with our neighbors for potluck or progressive dinners. We love ice-cream and it would be a sweet treat for our building!

We have only lived here 2 years but this neighborhood has been VERY welcoming. We have neighborhood clean-up where we beautify the entry to our neighborhood. We have a chalkboard to celebrate life's celebrations. We still have neighborhood yard sales and kids still ride their bikes. Every weekend the guys have a race to see who can get their lawn mowed first. When my daughter's friends found out we lived here, they all asked if they could "trick or treat" here. It is large, everyone is generous, and everyone is friendly.
Our neighbor hood is quiet and the people friendly. We help each other out. If someone thinks you need help they offer such as cutting your grass. garrettsambo@aol.com
Our neighborhood is fairly quiet and has a nice mix of folks, some with children, some without and some retirees. Everyone seems friendly and we all try to look out for each other.
I love my neighborhood because it is a Historical Neighborhood filled with big, beautiful Victorian homes. I love to research the rich history of the homes and surrounding areas.
I would like to get to kniow my neighbors better.

I love my neighborhood. Unfortunately many of my neighbors speak little if any English and that makes it hard to get well acquainted.
My neighborhood is a quiet street so we've gotten to know the other kids on the street on their way to the park
I walk my dog Heidi daily and have very friendly neighbors who will either wave or stop to greet Heidi. She gets all the love!
I love Ice Cream! I folow you on blogger now!
I keep to myself & don't know much about my neighbors.
I enjoy getting ice cream from the neighborhood ice cream truck.
lilyk@mail2world.com
My parents moved into our neighborhood / subdivision in 1983. I was 11. I have wonderful memories of summers at the pool, being on swim team, playing in the youth tennis league, going to huge fireworks displays on 4th of July. There were tons of kids around my age to play with and hang out with at school. The neighborhood, now 25+ years old is still awesome and has seen a resurgence of youth. While many original families are still here, there are tons of young families that have moved in. The amenities have grown to soccer and baseball programs and a new pool. My husband and I moved into the same neighborhood, literally 12 houses down from my parents in 2001 and love the people and atmosphere! It's the best!
My favorite thing about my neighborhood is that it is quiet(for the most part) and everyone minds their own business(I would say for the most part). I'm rural so its a nice atmosphere with the neighbors within arms length with about 37 houses on our Drive.electricisland(at)gmail.com
I would love to win this. I love Edy's ice cream. It is so delicious!
